Silves Pt. II Journal 45

More on Silves

Parking:  If you want to visit Silves they have made it easy to park.  Once you are over the bridge into town, turn left and you will find a huge parking lot along the river.  At one time they were overrun by RV's and being clever they set up a special area for them and allowing the 'real' paying customer to park close to the center of town.

We made it to the castle and found the Cafe Inqles that we had visited a few times with friends in the past.  The walk down was slow because it had been raining and the cobble stones were slippery.

Ultimately we found level ground and made our way to Valdemar's  just off the main street that is dedicated to serving chicken.  For a measley 10 euros you get bbq chicken (hot off a huge open air bbq on the street); a glass of wine or drink of choice; a salad and fries surrounded by hundreds of people all enjoying the same experience.  It is so popular that you inevitably have to wait for a seat as the smoke from the monster bbq envelopes you.  We've had some good times there over the years; particularly with our good friends Mike and Liz from back home.

Salad arrived with couvert and drinks.  Waiting for chicken.
