Portugal Wednesday, March 8/23

Weather:  Dry day.  High of 18C

Decided to find the 0'Cangalho restaurant near Barao de Sao Joao which is north and west of Lagos near Benisfrim.  They advertise a Fado night Tuesday at 9pm.  However they are off the beaten track and could be difficult to find.

We thought we would do lunch there.  Unlike yesterday we found the place quite easily although trying to do it at night without doing it in advance would be a disaster as it is way off the tourist track and in between two very small Portuguese villages on what would be a dark and lonely place at night.

In any case it didn't work out as they had been fully booked for a women's day event.  So we took a series of back roads into Lagos and had a very nice Italian lunch in the main square.

Typical small eatery.  Only holds about 18 people
with pleasant professional waiters.

We couldn't help but notice the number of Canadians milling around.  Their not hard to spot; especially when they are just on their initial bus tour.  Clothing is our first tip off (haven't quite left winter behind and a lot of blues and muted colours), but Cdn's just have a certain look.  They look a bit tentative and uncertain about what they are doing and where they are going.

Paris to Nice Bicycle Race

Spent an hour watching the Stage 4 of the Paris to Nice bike race.  This was a mountainous stage ending at a ski resort in Le Loge des Gardes.  Interesting to see the team support for each racer.  Some have big vans or buses with their team logos.  Big business in Europe.  We were watching it on British ITV4.
