Bookseller
Our plan for this morning is to visit the Algarve bookseller. He is an old Brit who maintains a mountain of books in a shop in Carvoeiro. He has been here all the 15 years we have been coming. He doesn't talk much but he has thousands of books of every sort piled around the shop. It reminds me of a place you might find in Notting Hill in London (not the movie). If you know what you want he can probably find it but organization is pretty much absent except for novels vs. travel vs. whatever you like.
Here's the deal: You pay him 5 euros for every book you take and he will pay you 3 euros for every book you bring back (they are all stamped with his name). I assume he will pay you less for any other book you wish to sell him.

So we made it down to the bookshop this morning and actually had a nice chat with Raymond who told us that he has had the shop since 2002 and he just turned 80. He also told us that he believes the shop contains 400,000 books. So we made off with six books. Should keep us busy for a while.
Locked out
About noon Mary had just started cooking some eggs when the power went out. So we went out to look and 'wham' the door slammed behind us because of a breeze blowing from the balcony. I didn't have my shoes and neither of us had a key. M went to the office and the whole resort is out. It's turmoil in the office (someone also lost their passport) and eventually she comes back and say someone will be along to open the door. After 20 minutes we were back in and within 5 minutes the power came on again.
