Weather: Sunny 8C at 7:30am and very clear. High today will be least 15C (60f); still unusually cool air temperature.
10:30am We are out on the balcony reading and sun is absolutely baking us. The air temperature is already 13C so it's going to be warm.
11:30am Went down to the unit below to visit with some Cannucks from Ottawa. They like us have been coming for years. They came late in January and he had a severe health issue and ended up in a hospital in Alvor. A private hospital apparently. He was there for 10 days. Then she fell and had to have stitches to her head. They were originally from Port Elgin but moved to Ottawa last year to be near their son.
8:00pm Booked a table at Oregano for dinner. We have been there in past years and found it serves excellent food. It is a small restaurant next to Bon Bon which is owned by the same person but is extremely expensive.
Oregano isn't cheap but fair for the quality of service and food
Our waiter asked if we wanted couvert (bread, olives, cheese and in this case freshly made butter and tuna paste) so while we enjoyed it we had time to think about what to order. The restaurant only seats about 18 but its small size is typical of the nicer restaurants here. When I expressed an interest in the shrimp starter but wanted to know more our waiter said the dish was prawns in garlic sauce. Believe me it didn't disappoint. The prawns were huge and very tasty. The picture below shows the last four after I remembered to take a picture. The heads and tails were still on but snapped off in short order.
We both had the Cod for the main course and it was excellent. I loved the vegetables so much that the waiter went to the kitchen and brought more. Click on pics to enlarge.
