We just arrived home from Portimao and noticed a photo shoot going on in the outside pool. The sun is bright but low as it's 4pm so maybe there looking for shadow effects. They have four models in swimsuits being photographed against the pool.
Portimao
After lunch we drove west to Portimao which is quite a large city. It's a very modern city with the ocean area devoted to tourists. There are 30 story high rise building overlooking the beach and similar to Albufeira there are simply dozens and dozens of huge holiday apartment buildings. From what I have been told some of these places go for $30-40 a night. If you like living in a birdhouse I suppose it's fine. Not for me. Here are a few pictures.
Incidentally we had our usual Galao and Pastel de Nata allow the cliff overlooking the beach and the bill came to 5.50 euros. Last week we had the same thing a Rocha Brava's coffee shop and it was 8.60 euros. Competition at Praia de Rocha (Portimao beach) is pretty stiff so that may account for the price.

That's the east beach in the background. I couldn't resist all the colours in these flowers.

Part of the middle beach. These beaches are huge easily holding thousands of sun worshippers from about April on.

The highest building is 30 floors. Our local friend Claudia told us they are very cheap but not to stay there under any circumstances. It's a summer European thing.
