Pre-Xmas

On Monday we had some good friends over for supper. Wayne, Meg and Gerry and Marilyn graced us with their presence. Next week Bill and Heather Holmes are coming. We had a great time at their place a few weeks ago when Heather cooked a wonderful Xmas dinner.

The 17th of December has rolled around. Mary has her lights on the bannister and Robert is home from Quebec. It is very comforting talking to my son again. He has some great stories. One of the parents of a student cooked him a rabbit stew and he was thrilled with it. He has been eating at the community hall occasionally and enjoyed having moose, etc. He seems to have developed a genuine liking for his students (mentioned in another article). He is also very positive about their progress. Anyway he drove the 800 plus kilometres home from Moffet on Lac Simard for Christmas.

Tomorrow Mike is coming out from London to join Rob for the annual and now traditional christmas tree hunt. The three of us having been treking through the deep snow of our twenty-six acres for many years now in search of the 'perfect' christmas tree. The white spruce are now getting very large and every year it is more difficult to find a tree. I'll post a photo tomorrow. Mary is making shortbread cookies for the occasion (photo).
