Paragliding at Sagres
On our way back to Sagres from the lighthouse M spotted four paragliders in the distance. As we approached the fortress they were clearly launching themselves off the cliff. We talked to one of them (a fellow about 65) shortly after he landed and he told us they needed a predictable draft coming up the cliff from the ocean that didn't change direction.
I've never been that close to gliders before. They were landing 100' away. When they landed it was as if they were on an invisible sponge. They came down so slowly they easily landed on their feet.
