Rocha Mar
Rocha Mar is a family restaurant on the Estrada de Farol just across from Rocha Brava Resort. During our first stay at Rocha Brava we went to Rocha Mar for dinner. There I discovered 'stone steak' that only a few restaurants do. Steak on stone or Bife de Pedra as they call it is a small st6ne slab about 8" x 6" mounted in a recess of a larger slab of wood. The stone is super heated in a pizza oven and placed in the wood. The wood part has small dishes inset in the wood with different condiments to favour your steak with. The steak comes precut in manageable pieces that you can further cut on the slab. Care must be taken not to burn yourself on the slab.
Rocha Mar includes potatoes or fries and vegetables and more than enough steak to keep your tummy happy. You cut the steak up and place it on the stone and voila it cooks to whatever your liking is. Amazing value at 16.50e.
Mary had seabass and as usual we always start with couvert. Total bill with 2 lemon pie desserts; 2 glasses of wine was 55e.
We arrived at 7:30 tonight and the place was almost full. The economy seems very good here.
