In July Hong and Rob travelled to Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing. As usual such trips require plane changes which they did initially did in New York for their flight to Shanghai to see Hong's brother and his wife and new baby. They stayed in Shanghai visiting for a week and then moved on to Tianjin to visit Hong's 'mother' at the SOS orphanage in Tianjin. Hong grew up there under her guidance and although she is not Hong's biological mother she feels a similar connection. Rob was very impressed with the facilities that have been there since the early 1980's. SOS is based in Austria and was started in 1948.
While in Tianjin they both came down with illness which made the balance of the trip rather difficult, but they managed to get to Beijing for a short while. They returned to Shanghai before departing on their flight to Los Angeles and on into Toronto.
