John Walden, the son of our friends Wayne and Meg was married January 4, 2005 to Momoya Yashida in a civil ceremony in Toronto. In October of 2005 they were married again in Japan in a traditional Japanese ceremony followed by a reception a week later in Toronto where the couple will live. Momo came to Canada with her sister Tomoya to seek new horizons and ended up engaged to John. Pictured below are Tomoya, Momoya and Keiko (mom)in Toronto City Hall in Jan. 05. The January wedding was not foreseen but took place to help clear immigration problems.
The girls and their mother Keiko visited our home during Christmas 04. We have a lot of original Japanese art and objects in our house that came from Japan prior and after WWII and they got a great thrill to see it so far from home. Mary's great aunt was a missionary in Japan in the 30's.
The reception in Toronto in October was attended by all of the Walden family clan and Momoya's father, mother and their best friends from Japan. I must say that these people are delightful representatives of their country and a joy to know.
I'll put up a photo of the couple when I get a digital file.
This blog is a journal but lately has become a way to illustrate our travels to family and friends when we are away.
